Connect Project


Connect advocacy meeting was held on September 4, 2017 in city police commissioner office – Salem by STNS. The participants of this Connect project are 50 young police officers.
The brief report of this project are most of the violences were facing from the Police Officers with the misunderstanding about the Trans-Community. In order to give proper understanding about the Transgender community, the experts were given them orientation about the LGBTQ & Gender Identification, Education, Employment, Violence and Reservation.
Our community members are facing so many other problems from Family members and as well as outsiders too. They are struggling to overcome from those problems and fighting to be in the main stream.
The outcome of this project is to bring changes in the attitude of the police officials .By this meeting we addressed the rate of issues and crisis against the LGBTQ community by doing this advocacy in and around Salem District. Police officials will be treating our community people with respect after this advocacy with the police stations.

Connect advocacy meeting was held on September 5, 2017 in Bar council – Salem by STNS. The participants of this Connect project are 30 Lawyers.
The brief report of this project are basically Lawyers were quite community friendly and supportive as well. But it is not in the optimum level. It is needed to be increased at large level and it was conducted as planned at their premises in front of the Hnbl.Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Salem.
It was planned to held in order to give proper understanding about the Transgender community, the experts were given them orientation about the LGBTQ community & Gender Identification, Education, Employment, Violence and Reservation. This forum was highly useful to express our needs from legal point of view and to know about our rights on property related issues and child adaption procedures.It is very useful to know about the constitutional benefits.
The outcome of this project is Lawyers and Advocates have been given orientation about the Organization and LGBTQ community. As a result of this advocacy meeting we can able to get the regular supports from Lawyers for the crises facing by the LGBTQ Community.By this advocacy meeting we came to know about how to deal with the issues related to property, rights, adopting child and constitutional benefits.

Connect advocacy meeting was held on September 6, 2017 in District AIDS prevention control unit – Salem by STNS. The participants of this Connect project are 28 health care providers .
The brief report of this project are Sensitize the health care providers about the LGBTQ community on Stigma, Discrimination at Government & Private Hospitals.Still our community members are facing discriminations and stigma at Health care premises from both government and private sectors.The health care providers were explained about the problems faced by the MSMs particularly, because they are the most vulnerable in the health care set up mentally.
They were explained about the LGBTQ community individually and they were able to understand about LGBTQ community. A gender identity and experience that embraces a full universe of expressions and ways of being that resonate for an individual. It may be an active resistance to binary gender expectations and/or an intentional creation of new unbounded ideas of self within the world. For some people who identify as non-binary there may be overlap with other concepts and identities like gender expansive and gender non-conforming.
The outcome of this project is to receive proper treatment for LGBTQ community health issues and needs. To attain more number of transgender counseling centres and to build strong rapport between
